Will the release of this Mech coincide with the Clan Scouting drop deck tonnage limit returning to 55tons? Allot more of these Mechs would get sold if that was the case.

Not a surprise, really. Was betting for the Hellhound and hoping for the Coyotl.
Looks great though. Lets see if its great in - game regarding hitboxes and such when the time comes.

highly doubt it, Ed. reason why it got dropped in the first place is because Stormcrows tank like assault mechs.

While Alex did an awesome job on the Lanner (god knows the original is one of the most butt-fugly clan mechs short of the Baboon) I kinda woulda preferred to see the Pouncer or Phantom show up.

I hardly play my Clan account anymore, but Bushwhackers tank as well or better than Stormcrows, so there is no need for the difference in tonnage now. Also, the Assassin 21 is a fine IS scout Mech too.

I agree that Alex made this version of the Lanner much better than the original, though.

Since it's unusable in Scouting, I have no reason to really want this.

If you want me to buy this PGI, let Clans use 55 ton mechs in Scouting.

Are there any significant ones?

Or is it rather a fluff thing (different Clans and stuff), and if so, could you tell about it?

Scouting tonnage ain't getting upped because of the sheer amount of firepower + tank Stormcrows get. granted it sucks a bit for the Lanner as it IS really a scout mech (max armored it's got 11 tons of pod space) but them's the breaks. it's lot fairer to just ban the entire weight class than start picking and choosing chassis to ban from it (because that would be become one hell of a slippery slope real fast).

The Lanner has much less podspace tonnage than the Stormcrow, but has larger engine and (I'm pretty sure) fixed MASC, and it can carry ECM.

Looks like it'll be able to run MG spam better than the Stormcrow, but won't be able to missile spam as well.

the Black Lanner is essentially a smaller Linebacker. fast, tough, but not a lot of podspace for weaponry. the fact all variants have MASC, as well as two variants having ECM is also going to make it a great recon and hit-and-run skirmisher.
